KrispyKremesRotaract Club Fundraiser
Submitted by Rob Rose

The BCC Rotaract Club is having a fundraising donut sale this Saturday, October 30th, starting at 9:30am, at Factoria Mall.  The proceeds of this sale will go toward projects in Nepal!  Please keep in mind that these are high quality Krispy Kreme donuts (only the best, of course).  The location of their stand will be by the Seattle's Best Coffee and Olde Country Buffet entrance.  Donut (Don't) forget to come out and support our Rotaract club.

For additional information, please contact Rob Rose (Ph 425-454-7676), BCC Rotaract President Daniel Done, or Peter Kirov.

BCC Rotaract Club Car Wash Nets
Big Bucks on Dreary Day

x102204Nepal1On

Saturday, October 16th, the BCC Rotaract Club had their first fundraiser to support humanitarian projects in Nepal. The day started out dark and rainy; however, the BCC student’s spirits weren’t at all dampened. Plus, the cars came in "presoaked"!

Within a short time, the students were "presoaked" as well. This reporter suggested looking extra-pathetic to bring in more business. By noontime the rain had stopped and business started to pick up. Some kind souls even gave donations instead of having their cars washed!

The five-hour event netted $352.00, so they are well on their way to the $2,500 goal (and pneumonia, I think!)

Special thanks go to Old Bellevue Chevron for hosting the event.

Bellevue Rotary & BCC Rotaract Club Team Up
To Help Disabled & Orphaned Children in Nepal

x102204Nepal2The BRC's Rob Rose and Peter Kirov have joined together with the BCC Rotaract Club to raise funds to support projects in Nepal. Our World Community Service Committee has approved funds to match the funds raised by the BCC Rotaract Club up to $2,500. These funds will be used to aid disabled children at the Newlife Disabled Center, orphaned children at the Nandu Maya self-sustaining orphan home and children at the School for the Deaf in Kathmandu, Nepal.

If the political situation in Nepal is safe enough, a group of BCC students will travel to Nepal with Rob and Peter, along with their spouses, Gina and Megumi, to undertake hands-on projects at the above mentioned locations. Last year Rob and Gina led a group of adult volunteers and Garfield High School students to Nepal. It was an enriching and rewarding experience for everyone involved, including members of our hosting club, RC Patan. This Nepali club, with whom we have cooperated on numerous projects, is now our officially recognized “twin club."

This $5,000 being raised and the volunteers going over to Nepal can make a meaningful difference in many children’s lives. When world events seem sad and discouraging, it is indeed satisfying to give of ourselves and improve the lives of others.

Please support the Rotaract Club as they raise funds for this worthy project. When we reach out and connect with the Rotaract club we chartered, we strengthen our relationship as parent club and mentors for future Rotarians.
