Bill Bryant, Commissioner
Port of Seattle
"Our Ports' and State's Competitiveness"
Port of Seattle
"Our Ports' and State's Competitiveness"
"We should all be should be concerned about the competitive challenges confronting Puget Sound's ports, because those ports generate tens of thousands of jobs in King and Pierce counties."
Commissioner Bill Bryant will discuss the importance of Puget Sounds' ports to our state's economy and some of the competitive threats confronting our ports and our state.
Commissioner Bryant was elected to represent King County citizens as a Port of Seattle Commissioner in the fall of 2007. After only one year on the commission, he was elected president of the commission by his peers. He was reelected president this past January.
Commissioner Bryant was born in Morton and grew up on the Olympic Peninsula and in Olympia. After attending Capital High School, he studied trade and diplomacy at Georgetown University. He put his training to work immediately as the director of Washington Governor John Spellman's trade council.
For the seven years between 1985-1992 Bill lived in Yakima, eliminating foreign trade barriers and opening new markets for Washington's fruit growers. He is a former member of the downtown Yakima Rotary Club and is currently a member of Seattle 4.
In 1992, Bryant moved to Seattle and founded Bryant Christie, Inc., a company that works to eliminate foreign trade barriers, develops new international markets, and builds customized Internet databases of international technical standards and research/reporting products.
He is also an investor and advisor to Deneki Outdoors, a company with fly fishing camps in Alaska, British Columbia, South Andros, and Chile.
In addition to his entrepreneurial interests, Bryant has been appointed by both Democratic and Republican administrations, Congress, and the United States Export Import Bank to advise on our nation's trade policies.

Bellevue Rotary Club hosted their annual Ice Cream Event at the Bellevue Arts Museum artsFair & 6th Street Fair July 23rd, 24th, and 25th. More than 150 Rotarians, led by President Gail Ryder, sold refreshing ice cream treats while raising funds and visibility for the amazing work that Rotary does serving local and world communities. The event was a huge success — celebrating friends and community.
