THIS WEEK's PROGRAM

Red Cross Serving King & Kitsap Counties

Each year, the American Red Cross Serving King and Kitsap Counties brings together 1,500 volunteers to care for their neighbors, trains 70,000 people in life-saving skills, and responds to a disaster about once every 48 hours. With offices in Seattle and Bremerton, the organization serves the people, businesses, and communities of King, Kitsap and North Mason counties.

The American Red Cross Serving King & Kitsap Counties chapter provides:

  • immediate, short-term disaster assistance for victims of fires, floods, earthquakes and other natural or man-made disasters
  • Community disaster education
  • Safety classes for adults and youth
  • Workplace preparedness and training
  • Emergency kits and supplies
  • International communication to locate family members separated by disaster or warfare
  • Emergency communication for military families
  • Patient and staff support at Naval Hospital Bremerton
  • Language translation and interpretation

The chapter also mobilizes local volunteers and resources to help respond to disasters across the nation and around the world.

Visit the Red Cross store at www.seattleredcross.org for emergency supplies and Red Cross Gear!

Holiday Bell Ringing

by Liz Swanson

The Holiday Season is almost upon us — shopping, snow, egg nog, and ... bell ringing! Many of you have already signed up for this annual activity, which is fantastic — thank you very much! However, there are 3 or 4 slots still available. Please take a look at the openings and see if you can work one of the shifts into your schedule.

When you look at the sign-up page, you'll notice all the shifts do have names by then; however, in some cases there is only one person listed, and we prefer to have at least two people per shift. It's more fun to do this with someone, so please consider joining with your fellow Rotarian. This is a great, short, one-hour activity and probably could be combined with a little shopping, proving both uplifting and time-efficient in the busy Holiday season. Bell Ringing is December 5 and 6, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day, outside of Nordstrom, in Bellevue Square.

Bellevue Rotary Sponsors Spinal Braces in Nepal
Rob Rose

Bellevue Rotary ClubMr. Bablu Mandal fell from his tractor and sustained a serious neck injury, with other complications. Thanks to the funds the BRC raised for International Projects and Programs, Mr. Mandal will recover nicely.

With $1,115 in funding we were able to sponsor 25 spinal braces and 25 Taylor's Braces for needy patients in Nepal. An additional $100 was contributed by the local Nepali Rotary Club, RC Dharan-Ghopa. That means that 50 lives will be improved by Rotarians from Bellevue Rotary Club!

This project is part of the overall Rotary USA/Nepal Disability Awareness Campaign. Remember: "We Are All Able"

DIFFERENT LOCATION FOR
DECEMBER 15 MEETING
Invite Your Spouse or Partner!

Bellevue Rotary will be relocating for a special Holiday Program on Tuesday, December 15. We'll be meeting at the newly expanded Hyatt Regency Bellevue this day only, in a larger-than-usual room, so we can host Rotarian spouses and partners.

Jot this change in location down on your calendar, and invite your spouse or partner to attend as your guest. RSVP your guest's name to Laurie Larson so we can get an accurate lunch count. Our program will feature holiday music, and parking will be validated.
