Rotary Night at the Pacific Science Center
"Dead Sea Scrolls"

District Governor Mike Montgomery

First come, first served!
A special night to experience history in Fellowship!

Bulletin ImagePlease join your fellow Rotarians and guests for an exclusive, private tour of the Dead Sea Scrolls on September 30, 2006.

Between 1947 and 1956 thousands of fragments of biblical and early Jewish documents were discovered in 11 caves near the site of Khirbet Qumran on the shores of the Dead Sea. These important texts have revolutionized our understanding of the way the Bible was transmitted, and have illuminated the general cultural and religious background of ancient Palestine, out of which both Rabbinic Judaism and Christianity arose.

The Seattle 4 Fellowship Committee has arranged a deluxe tour of the Dead Sea Scrolls and a social event for Rotarians, guests, and colleagues at the Pacific Science Center. Fellowship and food begins at 6:00 pm. Private tours start at 7:00 pm and go until 9:30. Tickets are $95.00 to secure your spot. Visit our special event registration site at www.s4dss.com, or call Jeanette Byrd at 206.386.5476.

Community Service Grants
Peter Wang, Chairperson

The Community Service Grant letter/form is being offered in a new format. Due to the complexity of applying for grants and the extensive information requested, the grant requests will be gathered utilizing a simple "Letter of Inquiry," which will allow the smaller and more-needy non-profit organizations to apply. It is not only simpler but easier to fill out, taking approximately 5 to 10 minutes.

The Letters of Inquiry will be sent directly to the Bellevue Rotary Club mailing address, and then passed on to the Community Grants Chairperson.

The initial time table is for the first application to be in before October 15, 2006, and the second installments to come in before February 15, 2007.

To view/download the Community Grants Letter of Inquiry, please click here (available under the CLUB FORMS dropdown menu on the website).

Check Classification Listing Online!

Please remember to check the BRC Classification Report online to make certain there is indeed room in a specific classification PRIOR to approaching a prospective member about his/her joining the Bellevue Rotary Club. Each classification has a limit of 20 members in that classification, so a quick check of the Classification Report might save time and possibly some embarrassment when approaching a prospective member.

Currently, the "Financial Services" classification is at capacity, and "Real Estate" is fast approaching. If you have any questions regarding member classifications, please contact Membership Classification Chairperson
