THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM

Michael Monroe, Executive Director
Bellevue Arts Museum
"Update on BAM's Current Activities"

Bellevue Rotary ClubFor over 35 years, Michael Monroe has been a vibrant and influential figure in contemporary American craft. Prior to his current role as Executive Director of Bellevue Arts Museum, Monroe was the Executive Director of the American Craft Council and President of the Peter Joseph Gallery in New York City.

Monroe was associated with the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery for 21 years. In 1993 Monroe was invited by President Clinton to organize a collection of American craft for the White House to commemorate The Year of American Craft. The collection toured the United States for ten years and was documented in a book published by Harry N. Abrams, Inc.

Rotary Mentor Program
Jim Hogue

For several years, members of the Rotary Mentor Program Committee have acted as volunteer industry advisors for a Multicultural Consulting Class in the Business Division of Bellevue Community College. As Advisors, we provide both industry and real world input to 4-to-6-student teams who are retained by Northwest companies to provide specific consulting input. This is an opportunity for Rotarians to interact directly with students and to participate in a meaningful aspect of their educational development

Volunteers participate in team meetings and advise the students regarding their efforts to provide the deliverables contracted for over a 3-month period from March through May. My goal is to attract enough additional Rotarians to the committee to be able to provide two Mentors for each team.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Jim Hogue (425-455-3879).

The Landing Dinner Donations

The web sign-ups for The Landing dinner donations have not been working for about a month, but it's up and running again, so sign-ups are welcomed. It is available by clicking on the bright yellow link on the top right side of any page of the website that says “SIGN UP HERE for The Landing Dinner Donors!”

Remember that by donating to The Landing, you get credit for a meeting make-up. You must notify the club through the Meeting Make-Up Form, just as if you had made up at another club.
