Joni Earl
Before joining Sound Transit Joni served as the Deputy County Executive of Snohomish County, Washington for over eight years. She was responsible for implementing county executive priorities and recommendations, developing policy, strategies, and annual budgets, managing intergovernmental relations, and managing day-to-day county operations. Snohomish County has 2600 employees and a $450million annual budget. Prior to her service to Snohomish County, Joni was the City Manager of Mill Creek, reporting to the City Council. She also served as the Director of Internal Management and Chief Fiscal Officer for Kitsap County. Joni is a graduate of Harvard Universitys State and Local Government Executive Program. She holds a masters in business administration from the University of Puget Sound, and received a bachelors degree from Washington State University. Bruce Raskin and his family are hosting our newly arrived exchange student from Mexico City, Mexico, Stefania Rios Baltierra (both pictured at left). Please plan to include Stefania in activities soon. Community Grants Committee The Community Grants Committee is now soliciting applications for Grants until October 15th. There are certain guidelines that will be considered when reviewing each grant.
Guidelines: 1) The funds must be beneficial to the Eastside. The Eastside would be the City of Bellevue and neighboring cities.
2) Fund requests are not to be for ongoing expenses such as operational expenses.
3) The maximum grant will be $5,000.
4) The Grant Request Form must be filled out. This form can be found at here on the BRC website. (The link is always available under the Club Forms dropdown menu at the top of every page of the BRC website; just select on Grant Request Form.)
5) Submit the completed form and any supporting information to Phil Bevan online, or mail to:
Phil Bevan Community Grant Request Next Spring's Group Study Exchange Charming Bavaria. The Black Forest and the Bohemian Forest. The Bavarian Alps. The cities of Augsburg and Munich. Our district will be sending five people one Rotarian and four young non-Rotarian business people there next May (2006) for a month. Group Study Exchange has been a central part of our districts outreach for many years. Almost every district in the world participates. Weve had exchanges with France, East Africa, Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, and many other countries. Applications for Team Leader for the Bavarian GSE must be submitted by 15 September.
