Recycle Cell Phones to Benefit Troops Overseas Bellevue Rotary, along with Seattle #4 and other clubs in our district, are participating in a great Rotary service opportunity: a program to recycle unused cell phones and use the proceeds to help our military personnel stay in touch with loved ones. During the month of June, we are partnering with CellPhones for Soldiers (CFS), a national non-profit organization, to recycle old cellphones, Blackberries and other PDA’s and their related components (including batteries and chargers). The proceeds from the recycling are used to purchase long distance telephone cards that are given free to our troops serving overseas. It’s good for the environment (we keep the devices and their toxic metals out of landfills), and it’s a simple, meaningful way to support our troops! The Seattle PI is supporting this project with ads through the month of June, making it a true community-wide promotion. Rotarians are encouraged to drop off their old phones in the boxes that will be provided each week at our club meeting. Please direct questions to BJ Rasmussen. We hope you will participate in this community service effort! Computer Recycling at the District Assembly From 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, this Saturday, May 31, at the District Assembly, Computers for the World (C4W) will be collecting old computer equipment, working or not, for rerfurbishment. They are taking most peripherals too, and will be in the main parking lot at BCC. There will be a few Rotary banners to catch everyone’s attention. By recycling your old computer equipment, you are keeping computers out of the landfills, and C4W can provide computers to people in need. Fees:

The Landing Dinner Donors A new year is upon us, and we urge you to consider donating dinners to The Landing. Our club is continuing the tradition of donating these dinners at least every Sunday and Wednesday evenings for the Eastside homeless youth at this unique cooperative venture of the Bellevue YMCA and the Friends of Youth. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this program, click here to view the Donor Information Sheet. You can sign up online for The Landing Dinner Donations and remember, donating counts as a make-up. Please contact Jim Hogue if you have any questions.
