Scott Armstrong
President & CEO, Group Health Cooperative

BRC photoScott Armstrong is president and CEO of Group Health Cooperative, one of the nation’s largest consumer-governed health care systems. Armstrong has been with Group Health since 1986 — in positions ranging from assistant hospital administrator to chief operating officer (COO). He became CEO and president in January 2005. Armstrong has more than 20 years of experience in health care and was the assistant vice president for hospital operations at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, before joining Group Health. Armstrong received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College in New York and a Master of Arts degree in business with a concentration in hospital administration from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He, his wife Sarah, and their two daughters live in Seattle.

2006-2007 Committee Assignments

Plans for the next Rotary year are rapidly taking shape. The theme of Rotary International President W.B. (Bill) Boyd is Lead the Way. He has chosen water management, literacy, health, hunger and the family of Rotary as his emphasis and our club efforts this year will be aimed at supporting these themes. Your support of Bellevue Rotary Club's committee structure will ensure that the club will work effectively to accomplish its goals for the year.

Below is a list of the committees. If you haven't already turned in your committee selections at a meeting or emailed youre choices to President-Elect John Baldwin, please complete the short form following the committee listing as soon as possible.

If you wish to serve on more than one committee, and we hope you do, please feel free to make that notation. Please keep in mind that Bellevue Rotary Club Bylaws discourage members from serving on the same committee for more than 3 consecutive years.

Spring golf Outing, Trilogy
Brad Hunt

Bulletin PhotoSo far we have 16 people signed up for our spring golf outing on Monday, June 5th, at Trilogy Golf and Country Club. I have reserved 32 spots and need to know how many others are wanting to play.

Our first tee off is 1:30 and we will be playing a "Shamble" team format. We will also have a KP's and maybe a long drive. The cost is $95 and will be billed to your Rotary account. This fee includes green fees, carts, balls and food. There will be a no-host bar available.

For our newer members, it is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow Rotarians. You do not have to be a great golfer, as we balance the teams so everyone will have an equal chance to win. The lower handicapped player are paired with the higher handicapped players so everyone will have fun.

If you have any questions or want to play, email me. Don't forget to include your handicap or average score for 18 holes.

Camp Goodtimes, June 29

Bellevue Rotary will again bring the best day of the whole summer to Camp Goodtimes on Vashon Island. Save Thursday, June 29th, for this fun event. We are expecting 140 kids with cancer, on or off treatment, and have arranged to rent carnival games for this day.

At least 40 Rotarians are needed to be at camp as carnie workers. Look for sign-up sheets in May or early June. Contact Charlotte Ellis if you have questions.
