Thank You From RYLA Participant
Glen Curda, RYLA Chair
The following is a letter form Leo Zhang, International School, who attended RYLA earlier this month, representing our club.

Well, where to begin ...

First of all, I want to thank the Bellevue Rotary Club for extending this wonderful opportunity to me and the other fortunate attendees of RYLA. The three-day program was truly an eye-opening experience. We began the first day by getting settled and acquainted with the other students who have come from far and wide (so many Canadians!) to take part in the conference. As we got comfortable in the various ice-breakers, I could tell we had a lively bunch going.

The next day, the seminars and lectures began. Throughout the course of the three days, I listened to invaluable lessons from extraordinary speakers who each had their own unique message, and in the end, what laced them together was the belief that all of us can make a difference in our lives, the lives of others, and our community. I came away inspired and hope that you continue supporting such golden opportunities.

Attention Golfers & Environmentalists!
A public/non-profit/private partnership of the city of Bellevue, the Pacific Science Center and Puget Sound Energy has taken on the task of finishing the expansion of the facilities and environmental programs at the Mercer Slough Environmental Center in Bellevue. Fundraising is moving forward and construction is beginning on the first phases of this expansion.

They have an immediate need for a used golf cart — NO, not to schmooze corporate titans to solicit funds. During the construction the educational center is still providing programs to our young people, just at a different location down the street. The golf cart is for moving supplies (not students) to the temporary location and would be needed for a couple of years. It would be ideal if the cart were configured with a flat-bed on the back to haul the supplies, but this is not mandatory.

So, Rotarians, if you have a golf cart you would like to loan to the environmental center, or if you have a contact at a golf course or with an individual who might be willing, please email Rotary member with the info.

Camp Goodtimes, June 28
Charlotte Ellis
The Rotary Carnival at Camp Goodtimes is the highlight of the summer for area children with cancer and their siblings who attend camp. Bellevue Rotarians and their guests make this day possible.

This year, our theme is The Circus, and we hope everyone will get makeovers from our Gene Juarez stylists, back for the 10th year.

Camp is held on Vashon Island; take the Fauntleroy Ferry. Come mid-morning and plan on spending the day. You will have as much fun as the kids! We have lunch at camp with the campers and stop for pizza and beverages at Rock Island Pizza before heading for the 6:00 pm ferry back to Seattle. Look for more information and sign-up sheets in May.
