Bob and his wife, Molly, live in Bellevue, where they raised their sons Ford, Harpur and Marshall. Club Service Work Project Approaching Everyone is invited — all Rotarians, Red Badgers in need of a service project, InterAct and RotorAct members, Scout troops ... the more the better! If you have any questions, please contact . Crystal Mountain Ski Trip, March 6 & 7 This is a BRC 2007 event you won't want to miss, as record snowfall is mounting daily, and, even more enticing, one of our gourmet guys, Rick Hervey, will be preparing the Tuesday evening dinner. Given the prestigious wine-and-dine clubs Rick belongs to, his hosting of dinner is guaranteed to get us fat and happy for the cards and conversation to follow. Game Meister Lisa Carroll will be available to instruct all newbies in the art of cards — in a kind and gentle manner, of course (heh heh) — so bring a few bucks and get set to haul in the beginner's luck chips, taken from us old chumps. Yes, sadly, first time attendees seem to take un-Rotary-like glee in fleecing the veterans. Chef Foster Radford, man of all meals (past dinner dude), is taking the point on breakfast. Early risers are invited to volunteer to help Foster, who is a ton of fun both on and off the slopes. Several have indicated plans to participate since notice was sent out last year and repeated in the Bulletin most weeks since. But, if you have not confirmed with me by email in the last week, please do so now so we can start forming up the car pools (the R&R from the busy week starts as we depart). Also, the chefs need a nose count. Rick says he can handle 40 to 50 for dinner. The lodge can sleep that many, but past experience leads us to believe that the facility can best accommodate 25 to 30 for meals, unless we do two seatings. Girls' dorm on top floor and boys' bunks in basement are separated by the kitchen/dining/lounge area of the lodge, sitting just off Lot C at the Crystal Mountain Ski Area base. If you are a red badger, this trip is a must-do event, even for non-skiers/boarders, as it allows everyone to become better acquainted. Given the great food, cards, and camaraderie alone, the $50 event fee is hard to beat. That's a bargain for what it covers (dinner, breakfast, and lodging). But it's an offer you can't refuse, this year, as Frank Young has donated lift ticket vouchers again for the first 18 confirmations who don't have their own season passes. So, sign up early and sign up oft... well, just sign up soon, so the rest of us don't feel so guilty about pondering all that fresh powder on our own. Those who can get away sooner than mid-afternoon on Tuesday, March 6, may wish to scope the slopes out for the rest of us (caveat bravado war stories about your ski-alone prowess, as we'll have a chance the next day to see if you're really as bad in deep powder as the rest of us). The Group Ski Day is Wednesday, March 7. We typically do a few runs together before breaking into smaller groups according to interest and ability. Everyone will have someone to ski with, (unless you're just faster than everyone else and don't want to miss the chance to stack up the miles before lunch). Some come for the evening events, then leave in the early morning Wednesday, or for after-breakfast and lounging around the fireplace with a book. Several leave after the 1:00PM group lunch at the Snorting Elk, while others ski the full day before returning to the lodge to pack and head home for dinner at a civilized hour or stopping for a bite on the way. Don't delay, calendar this event today. I'll look forward to your . Email is also best for questions, but I'll be happy to discuss details by phone, if you prefer. Camelot at the Fifth Avenue Theater There will be a wine tasting event before the show in a Bellevue Rotarian’s downtown Seattle office. Finger food will be available to make a light dinner. Children are welcome. The tickets are for the Grand tier (balcony), and we have one of the front sections on the balcony. If you are interested in attending, please contact with the number of tickets you need.
