Kenneth D. (Ken) Graham
CEO, Overlake Hospital Medical Center

Graham1As President and CEO of Overlake Hospital Medical Center, located in Bellevue Washington near Seattle, Ken Graham has successfully worked to transform the institution from a community hospital to a regional medical center. Under Graham’s leadership, the hospital added a comprehensive cancer center, Women’s Hospital and Childbirth Center, Sound Heart Institute, and a major new medical office complex. During his eleven-year tenure, he has orchestrated the improvement of quality and efficiency, gaining strong praise both from consumers, physicians and nurses. The accreditation agencies, such as JCAHO, consistently give the hospital high ratings. Overlake is recognized as on top of the “top 100 cardiovascular hospitals in the country.” as well is one of the “100 most wired” hospitals.

Ken Graham has worked in the hospital administration field for more than 35 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a Masters in Hospital Administration from UCLA. He has been an affiliate of the American College of Health Care Executives since 1972, and since 1984 a Fellow. He currently serves on the national Board of Governors.

Graham is committed to involvement in local, regional and national organizations. He has served as a member or advisor of more than two dozen hospital or health care organization boards.

Graham lives in Bellevue, Washington, has been married for 37 years and has three grown children.

BRC Donates to Friends of Youth for Homeless Youth Shelter

Terry Pollard

PollardCurtin1Each night on the Eastside an alarming number of young adults sleep on the streets or “couch surf” because they don’t have safe and stable housing. “The Landing” fills a serious gap in the local safety net for homeless people, who are too old for emergency shelters geared for youth ages 11-17, and who are extremely uncomfortable seeking the help of adult shelters in Seattle.

The Landing, operated by Friends of Youth and housed at the Bellevue Family YMCA, provides shelter services to homeless adults ages 18-23. Five nights a week, The Landing offers this fragile population a safe, structure atmosphere with access to showers, laundry facilities, warm meals and a safe place to sleep. Just as important, is the connection with caring individuals and case management to help homeless young adults resolve issues at the root of their homelessness.

The BRC donation to Friends of Youth will support the important work of The Landing by provide bedding for the Landing guests.

Airline Miles Needed for Bellevue/Bulgaria Project
Rob Rose

airlinemilesAngel Kelchev, President of the Stanford/PaloAlto Rotaract Club (and previously a member of BCC Rotaract Club), has been a leader incoordinating a Rotary Foundation Matching Grant project with Bellevue Rotary Club to provide computer equipment to a high school in Pazardjik, Bulgaria. Angel is a student at Stanford and would like to lead a team of volunteers from Stanford to travel to Bulgaria next spring to install and network the computers and instruct the Bulgarian students in how to use them. However, the cost for airfare is prohibitive, and the grant will not cover travel costs. Do any Bellevue Rotary Club members have excess travel mileage that they would be willing to donate to Angel to help him with the airline ticket?

Please contact Rob Rose (Ph 425-454-7676) if you would be willing to help.
