Prior to this appointment, Chan was Dean of the College and Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Occidental College. While at Occidental he had the distinction of serving as Interim President for an academic year during a time of institutional transition. Guess Who’s Going To Nepal

Charlotte Ellis and her friend Sandy Anderson, along with Laurie Larson and her son Eric, are part of a group of 21 volunteers traveling to Nepal with Rob and Gina Rose during mid-February. Charlotte and Sandy will be in charge of a special arts and crafts project we will be doing during a big party we’ll be having for children with disabilities in Nepal. Charlotte is a whiz with arts and crafts from her years of experience with the kids at “Camp Goodtimes.”

Rob will be leading a group of 21 Rotarians, spouses and children, representing nine clubs from around our district, and even one Rotarian from Minnesota — Brad Putney — who found out about the trip and project from the project website and was so inspired he is now confirmed for the trip and is contacting other clubs in his district about participating in the “Nepal Disability Awareness Project”!

After some technical problems from the trip last year, Rob is working with our club’s webmaster, Robin Stark, to have his “blog” up on the District website. You can subscribe to RSS feed and get updates sent to your email inbox/newsreader!
You can read the trip blog here. Rob is already in Nepal and has posted his first entry! The rest of the group will be leaving on February 13th for a two-week visit.

3-H Grant Application Advance Site Visit Rob Rose

The “Nepal Disability Awareness Campaign” has been selected for an on-site visit in Nepal by a Rotary Foundation representative in February. This is yet another step in the process of getting our project approved. Please continue to keep you fingers and toes crossed — they must be getting pretty cramped by this time — uncross them from time to time for safety!

FELLOWSHIP: WINE TASTING EVENT!

Bellevue Rotary will have a wine tasting event on Friday, January 25th, at 5:30 PM at the Harbor Club in Bellevue. Sign-up sheets will be on the tables for the January 8th, 15th and 22nd meetings. Cost is $30 per person. Call or email
Byron Piro for more information (Ph 425-646-4860).

THE LANDING DINNER DONATIONS
Jim Hogue

A new year is upon us, and we urge you to consider donating dinners to The Landing. Our club is continuing the tradition of donating these dinners at least every Sunday and Wednesday evenings for the Eastside homeless youth at this unique cooperative venture of the Bellevue YMCA and the Friends of Youth. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this program, click here to view the
Donor Information Sheet.

You can
sign up online for The Landing Dinner Donations and remember, donating counts as a make-up. Please contact Jim Hogue if you have any questions.
