Scott C. Strode
Vice President Airplane Production, 787 Program
Boeing Commercial Airplanes

"The new paradigm for manufacturing airplanes as defined by the 787 program"

x0621Strode1Scott Strode is the Vice President of Airplane Production for the 787 program. He is responsible for leading the definition and execution of the production plan for the 787 program, including development and operation of the 747 Large Cargo Freighter. He was appointed to this position in April 2005. He is also co-chair of the 787 Partner Council, the executive council for the international team of 787 partners.

Prior to this assignment, he was the Vice President of Production & Quality for the 787 Program.

Prior to his initial 787 appointment in March 2003, Strode served as vice president of Workplace Services for the Shared Services Group. There he had company-wide responsibility for managing workplace related services, including facilities and property management, security and fire protection, and safety, health and environmental affairs. He was named to this position in August 2002.

Earlier, Strode held the position of vice president of Facilities & Logistics Services Shared Services Group with responsibility for managing facilities, logistics and support services within the Puget Sound region, as well as providing the leadership role for integrating these services across The Boeing Company.

From 1998 to April 2001, Strode provided leadership as general manager for the Delta Launch Vehicle production facility in Decatur, Ala. He spearheaded the start-up and initial operation of the facility, including plant construction, production and testing of the Delta IV family of launch vehicles and other Delta products.

From 1996 to 1998, Strode served as general manager of the Boeing manufacturing and assembly facility in Pueblo, CO, responsible for producing the Delta II and Delta III launch vehicles and other space transportation products.

Strode joined The Boeing Company in 1987 and has served in a number of key assignments including director of operations for the International Space Station project in Huntington Beach, Calif. He also served as the deputy director of Production Engineering for Expendable Launch Systems. Additionally he held many technical project management and engineering positions on launch vehicle and military aircraft programs.

Prior to joining The Boeing Company, Strode held engineering positions with Wiggins Connectors and Rockwell International.

He has a master’s degree in business administration from the Drucker Center at Claremont Graduate School, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Southern California.

Strode’s civic and community involvement has included leadership positions for United Way, Junior Achievement and various university programs and economic development organizations.

CampGoodtimes1

The Camp Goodtimes Carnival is this coming Wednesday, June 22. We have 130 kids, ages 7-17, coming to camp and ready to have a great time.

Assignments at camp have been made, and an email was sent out with that information. If you would like to print out the list, along with driving directions, and explanation of "what will happen," please click here.

If you’d like to car pool, meet in the north end of the north parking lot of Lincoln Park and go from there in fewer vehicles.

Ferry schedule:  The 10:20 from Fauntleroy is the best choice. Other times are available here: www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/. The crossing is 15 minutes and the drive south down the island to camp takes 25 minutes.

DON'T FORGET TO BRING sunscreen, rain jacket, camera, and a folding patio chair/card table if you wish ... AND SUNSHINE!

Charlotte Ellis can be reached on her cell phone at 425-443-6303.  Vashon has uneven cell service, however, so the landline message phone at camp is 206-463-4075

2005 Strawberry Festival &
CLASSIC AUTO SHOW
June 25 & 26
by Ross McIvor

x0621StrawberryAutoShow1Plan to attend Eastside Heritage Center’s 1st Annual Classic Auto Show on Sunday, June 26. THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED!

This brand new event is combined with the Annual Eastside Heritage Center Bellevue Strawberry Festival. For information on the Classic Auto Show and to download the registration form, click here.

Get your car out of your garage and come down for a fun day. This is a community event and not a “Concours d’Elegance,” so take the opportunity to show your “baby” to the public and the judges, if you choose.

Stu Vanderhoek and I are on the Board of the Eastside Heritage Center. The Strawberry Festival will be both days, June 25-26, and the Auto Show will take place from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 26th.  Main Street in Old Bellevue will be closed for that purpose.

The Strawberry festival will be taking place on many of the streets, alleys and parking lots north of Main Street, so come have fun, even if you don't participate in the "1st Annual Classic Auto Show."

I have registered my '68 Mustang, so I will be there during the show as a participant and as an Eastside Heritage Center Board Member Volunteer.  Please contact me if you have any questions.

nformation on this fun and worthwhile event!

Prosperity Rings Thanks Bellevue Rotary

x0621Pasternak1As President, and on behalf of the Prosperity Rings Board of Directors, I would like to thank the Bellevue Rotary Club for your contributions in the 2004-2005 fiscal year of $3,000 and $1,500 for our micro credit facilitators in India. The funds will be used to provide micro-credit loans to vulnerable women so they can establish small enterprises as a means of support for their families.  The investment you have made will help not only a first tier of women, but will also provide loans a second and third time when the loans are paid back with interest.  We hope the joy of giving on your part equals our joy of being able to pass on your gift to those Indian women.

I am pleased to report that Prosperity Rings has just launched its web site: www.prosperityrings.info.  A full accounting of our March 2005 monitoring trip is featured in the Program Highlights section.  Please do take a look.

Thank you so very much for your generous contribution. Rotary is well known to the people of India and has been a powerful force toward positive change. Each of you as members has now played a contributing role.
