The Kingsleigh Inn Bed & Breakfast, nestled on the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island in the village of Southwest Harbor, Maine, is known for being both elegant and casual. This turn of the century, turreted Queen Anne Victorian home was built in 1904 and recently renovated this year. Surrounded by Acadia National Park, you are just minutes away from scenic trails, oceanside cliffs, and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. You will be warmly greeted each morning by your wonderful hosts, Greg and Dana, and treated to a magnificent gourmet breakfast. This package also inlcudes two round trip tickets on American Airlines for travel within the continental United States. Your Auction Chairman, Bob Ward, has stayed at the Kingsleigh Inn. If you want relaxation, romance, and comfort, this trip will be one to remember forever! Donor(s): Kingsleigh Inn, Procuts of Tucson Volunteers Needed for Special Olympics Event Special Olympics has requested BRC support for the aquatics event, Saturday, April 16, at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way. It is a large event with a large number of volunteers needed, with rapidly rising costs. Special Olympics would be very happy to have Bellevue Rotary as the sponsor of the event and would welcome 20-40+ volunteers to work that date. Volunteers will definitely be warmer than they would have been on the ski slopes! The event will last all day, from approximately 8:00 am until 5:00 or 6:00 pm. All-day volunteers are preferred, but shifts can be taken if necessary. Thank you for Bellevue Rotarys continued support of the athletes of Special Olympics Washington! The volunteers had fun last year and, of course, the athletes always do. Please contact Tom Eckhart to volunteer or to receive more information.. CurdaFun Ex-President, Glen Curda (aka Mr. Bowtie, Bill Ptacek, and Toe-Guy) expressed surprise, amazement and fear upon reading that Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes were back on the lunch menu at our meetings! While also appearing to hypnotize "yours truly" to subscribe to his "no meatloaf" doctrine, Ex-President Glen chanted the following over and over again: I do not like meatloaf and mashed, Personally, this reporter thinks that if Ex-President Glen would just try it, he might just find out that he likes it! Rotaract Trip to Nepal Cancelled
Rotary Cubs in Nepal will help distribute the funds and "Cub Reporter" Rob Rose will still be traveling there from March 13-31. Rob will be meeting with the organizations involved and coordinating how the funds being sent over will be utilized. Rob will also be participating in at least one volunteer project with the Rotary Club of Kopundol, who are going to be making improvements at the Newlife Disabled Center in Kathmandu. Rob will again be documenting the trip with video and still photographs and promises to have a great story to tell on his return. One of last year's BCC Rotaractors, Angel Kelchev, was so moved by the plight of these disadvantaged children in Nepal that he has been raising funds at his new school, Stanford University. He has even started the first Rotaract Club at Stanford! Angel has recently sent a check for $900 from an art sale that he held at the school. These funds will go towards the matching money being raised by the BCC Rotarians. Congratulations, Angel, on your outstanding efforts. "Cub Reporter" Rob Rose, himself, has been moved and inspired by these young people though they've never met the people they are raising funds for, they give of their time and talents to help!
