Nancy Pasternak & Jerry Henry
"Establishing a Rotary Club"

Nancy Pasternak has just returned from a month-long stay in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, during which time she established the first Rotary Club in that country. This turned out to be a major undertaking, from scratch, since Tajikistan was not in any Rotary District.

Pasternak1Nancy learned of the enthusiasm for this club when she spent ten months in Tajikistan as a Mental Health Specialist for Doctors Without Borders in 2002. Nancy has entered the field of counseling motivated by 11 years of teaching Dale Carnegie courses.

As Director of Apna Ghar, a Chicago domestic violence agency for Indo-Pakistani survivors, Nancy researched solutions in India and was inspired to establish her foundation, Prosperity Rings, that funds micro credit enterprises for abjectly poor women in India.

Nancy graduated with a Masters in Hispanic American Studies from Stanford and a Masters in Counseling from the University of New Mexico, where she lived for 23 years. She is married to Rotarian Derick, and they have three children, Ken 33, Katherine 31 and Sarah 29.
